Cabo Fishing Report by Ursula's Fishing charters

Billfish: Start to get the blue, black marlin and sail fish they are already in all the areas out by the warm ocean currents, since last week we had very good reports and blue marlin catches on average around 4 per week 275lbs of weight with the exception of a blue marlin of 475 lbs.

Some black marlin has been reported by our boats in the fishing grounds known as Golden Gate and the 11.50 spot. 27 July our good friends O'Neal family went fishing in the Ursula IV boat, that day was doing a lot of wind but the purpose was to find a Roosterfish to Steve and then go offshore to look for a Marlin his father in low, since in the last two attempts were not lucky that day we sailed northwest into the wind to a place called San Jaime Bank and about 11 miles out we saw Dorado Mahi-mahi and catch 2, one small about 20lbs and other medium 30 pounds, Miguel the assistant prepare a bait to troll and switch in less than 20 minutes a sailfish, came and pulled the bait , Mr. O'Neal fought about 25 minutes with the Sailfish and we raise it for a quick photo and release it.
Then we went to the east into the wind where we had other sightings and pulled another sailfish but we lost

On July 29 Mr. Bryan Swiniarski and his friends went fishing and had a great day catching a Marlin 310 lbs and 4 Yellow fin tuna, on the same day Greg Grof on board Ursula IV caught and released two sailfish about 75 lbs , 2 Dorados (Mahi-Mahi) around 45 lbs.

We hope to have a great season of fishing for big blues.

Many schools Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) and tuna.

OTHER SPECIES: Although the rains have not come to Cabo San Lucas which benefits the group of species such as Dorado, Wahoo and Yellow fin Tuna and small fish that serve as food for them, as the rains are sometimes flowing streams and small pieces of wood brings organic matter which attracts these species.

The reports of our boats have been more than excellent reaching an average of 87% of all fishing trips these species of yellowfin tuna have been very close to the coast accompanied by dolphins with large schools of tuna by bringing some copies of respectable size, the locations of sightings have been from the old lighthouse and the hill of Cabo San Lucas about 4 to 8 miles from the coast.

Also fishing for Dorado has not been the exception to find Dorado’s out in front of the entire coastline and no more than 2 to 5 miles away, have been constant reports of excellent size and weighing about 20 to 55 pounds.

On July 21, our friend Mr. Steve O'Neal and his children and father went out fishing one more time aboard the good Ursula IV capturing two Dorado’sand 20 lbs and 35 lbs.

On July 26^th Mr. Campanela went fishing aboard Ursula IV and caught 7 Yellowfin Tuna and 4 Dorados right in front of the lighthouse about 10 miles out of the coast.

August 01^st the family of the state of Mexico Mr. Arturo Cortez Aboard Ursula IV had an excellent day of fishing catching a yellowfin tuna of 224 lbs fighting around 2 hours and 15 minutes definitely a good experience.

On August 3, Miss. Deidre Stoley came with two friends went fishing and capturing 2 good-sized Dorado’s.

Overall Catch Success Rate 90% (all species combined

BILLFISH: Billfish catches remain steady and look to improve if the weather can ever make up its mind. Right now areas such as La Paz are baking hot, whilst the Pacific is still enjoying cool breezes. There has also been a red tide in Cabo, which despite horror stories you usually hear, has not affected offshore fishing. We have seen a lot of smaller fish wash up on the beach but no big game fish. Catches were steady to good on billfish and excellent on yellowfin tuna. Fifty nine percent of our anglers this week managed to catch between one and six marlin in a day. Top boat was “Ursula IV” the 34´ ft Cristailayner, who during the first day of the Stars and Stripes event managed to release six striped marlin and boat four tuna for Richard Makensy from san jose, California fishing with friends, just above the 95 spot, with live mackerel the ticket for the marlin whereas the tuna took cedar plugs. Earlier in the week “Ursula” also released four marlin for another group this time at the 11.50 spot. As if to prove that size doesn’t really matter, when it comes to boats, “Bucanero”, 29 ft California also released four striped marlin this same day plus three tuna

OTHER SPECIES:Yellowfin tuna was definitely the most popular catch this week with seventy seven percent of our boats catching from one to twenty two fish, all pretty much in the 15 to 40 lb class, although there was one an exception, a 180 lb’ caught 25 miles off of the Old Lighthouse on the Pacific– they caught a total of five tuna all on lures, ranging from cedar plugs, to petroleros and green type lures aboard “Ursula IV”.

Total count on tuna was 187 fish with the best catches between Land’s End and the Old Lighthouse 20 to 25 miles out. Dorado catches were slower this week with just seventeen percent of boats catching one or two fish in the 20 to 30 lb class with blue and green lures working well for this species. We had a solitary wahoo this week, weighing in at 36 lbs

WEATHER CONDITIONS: Some quite rough seas on windy days and calmer on less windy days, skies are blue and weather nice, not super hot yet.

LOCATION: 11.50 spot, 95 spot, Destiladeras, San Jaime, Cabeza de Ballena, and Cerro Blanco.

Marlin Fishing in Cabo !!

We hope to start the season with warmer water that means the Marlin will be closer to our shores, Captain Ricardo reported some catches this week, last week we were lucky to eat a lot of ceviche because all boats had a good catches of Sierra,

Recent Trip on Ursula IV

All comments are important to us. in this case thanks so much to Zora Mark D for their comment about "one bad day fishing"

We charted the Ursula IV on June 10. Fishing was slow all week and we picked the worst day of the week to fish (very windy). However, we found the captain (Ricardo) and crew to be lazy and disinterested. While other boats were moving to different areas or working areas hard, our captain was just chugging along on a ride. We mentioned this a few times and he did change course a bit. The sad part is that 2 yrs ago we used the Ursula III and had a great day (Captain was Ramone, mate was Manuel). From that experience we thought first to use Ursula again. Recommended it to friends who used it as well. Now we will not use Ursula again. Your boats are nice and well kept. It is too bad your Captain, in this instance, didn't want to work that day. In fact, they didn't even raise flags on the fish that we did catch - too much work for them. MZ

Fishing starts to get better!

After a few months of slow fishing, begin to have better reporting for some Wahoos, Yellowfin tuna and Striped Marlin, weather conditions are great,
yesterday Ursula IV caught 2 Yellofin tuna and release 1 Striped Marlin about 5 miles out in front to sand's hills.

After a few rainy days, the nice weather returns,
While fishing remains a little slow for Marlin and Dorado,
yesterday Ursula IV with Mr. French saw some but not eat,
they will try again this week for sierras.

Mike and Cris Carter on board Ursula III caught 35 sierras
they had an excellent dinner at the Hilton Hotel.

It is expected that the water temperature change over the next two days,
and that is favorable for Marlin and Dorado.

Another slow day, the fishing has been slow since the last weekend.......

Jeanine Mellem Fishing Trip on board Ursula IV Nov. 15th and 17th

Hello Kathy.
We did have a good trip home, no problems. On our last fishing trip there was just three of us because Peter got sick on Sunday night. We caught 2 tuna and 5 dorado among us. One dorado was a good size, one was quite small and the rest were medium sized. We both took home about 25 pounds of fish filets. Since it was not as much as we usually get we were able to freeze all of it in our freezer in the condo where we stayed.

It was the first time fishing for my sister and her husband and they said they enjoyed it very much. There is one thing we were not happy about ... when we buy $30 worth of bait fish we would like to see it used as bait for fish. On the last trip I had to ASK that they rig up some live bait for trolling. Hugo told us (on Sunday) that it attracts the larger dorado and when we did use it (on Tuesday), we did catch the large dorado. But they only rigged up two fish like that and used one or two to throw out when we were reeling in fish. At the end there was a LOT of bait left and it was thrown to the birds that followed us into the marina. We would have preferred to use all of the bait fish for FISHING not for feeding the birds. I think that "Tony" (he had too many names) thought that providing a show by feeding birds and sea lions was something we would enjoy. But we'd rather use them for fishing...
Other than that they crew did a good job.

I can report that we always enjoy our fishing with the Ursula IV or III. We have had some fishing trips where the fishing was wonderful with marlin, dorado and sailfish. This last fishing trip, however, was too soon after Hurricane Rick for the fishing to be good. We didn't catch any but we still had fun! Your Captain and First Mate were professional, helpful, and very pleasant.

Of course I always enjoy communicating with you and your husband.

We will continue to fish with you. I'll look for some pictures from past years when we have caught fish and will sent them to you.

Frank's trip Nov. 10th on board Ursula IV

Hola Kathy,

We had a great trip. Too bad we had to come home.

The Ricardo and Hugo were great. We had multiple knock downs and run offs on baits throughout the day missing roughly 15 fish due to short bites and the hooks not setting. The first fish was a Striped Marlin around 150# that was hooked up on a bait and switch with live bait. It put on a great show for almost an hour during the fight. Towards the end when the fish got close to the boat it swam underneath and the line hung up on the bottom of the boat. So Hugo quickly went swimming to save the catch and remove the line from the bottom.
Later in the morning we had a multi-knock down of tuna hooking up with only 1 football yellowfin tuna…too bad we missed the 2 other strikes. That fish was tasty.
We continued to troll northwest towards Golden Gate and found a large school of Dorado around floating debris. We took 4 Dorado with the rest of the live bait and started trolling back home hoping for a wahoo and more tuna but no such luck however we did add another Dorado to the box and found our long dead bait was short striked by a wahoo and missing its body. Next time we are adding a stinger hook.
Thank you to the crew and Hugo for swimming to untangle the line. Most crews would let you break off and we appreciated the extra effort.

After enjoying a nice vacation and some rainy days we return to our regular fishing days wishing the best of luck to all competitors of Los Cabos Billfish Tournament which begins yesterday Oct. 14th but due to the storm Patricia was not possible to leave the boats out so today will be the first day fishing we expect good catches from all, The weather conditions are excellent and we hope will continue favorable for the next week because we’ll have the Bisbee’ Black & Blue Marlin Tournament from October 20th to 24th (Fishing dates 21st , 22nd , 23rd )

Edward Maranian and friends on board Ursula III those unable to leave on Tuesday for bad weather but they changed their trip for today with Captain Antonio and caught one Yellowfin Tuna approximately 15 miles out of "Old Light House".

Jim Hogan and son from Los Angeles CA. for second year on board Ursula IV with Captain Ricardo (Kava) releasing one Striped Marlin in front to "Sand Hills" about (8 miles out approximately).

Today there were not many Anglers out, Captain Antonio have contact with us all day long and he says it almost did not hear anyone in the radio frequency, because only a few boats are fishing at the same area,
most of reservations were changed to the weekend, Airlines also were affected by bad weather but reported full flights for the next days.

Fishing Update August 16th -30th

Weather Forecast Today: Cloudy

Fishing Conditions in Cabo, Fishing Areas and best Catch:
Water temperatures remain warm in the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez, calm winds still although we have Hurricane "Jimena" Located about 370 Miles South-Southeast of Cabo San Lucas Mexico, and a Tropical Storm Kevin located about 895 Miles West-Southwest of the the Southern tip of Baja California, for the moment we are waiting the development of these meteors.
In these weeks we still have a good fishing close to the shore 3 to 5 Miles, our favorable fishing areas have been out in the Old Light House, “Cerros de Arena” (Sand Hills) predominant species as Dorado, Striped Marlin, and Blue also some Yellow fin-Tuna and Wahoo using different types of trolling lures and Live bait as “Caballito” big eye shad and mackerel.

August 29th Chris and Tim from CA. on board Ursula III Caught 2 Wahoo’s and 3 Dorado’s.

August 28th On Board Ursula IV our very good friend Garry and friends left around 6:30 am with Captain Ricardo and Miguel
Having a great time caught 7 Dorado’s, 1 Wahoo and lost 2 Marlin.

August 23th On board Ursula IV, Olter and me decided to go fishing with our youngest daughter we left 6:30 am this is the first fishing trip for her we feared that she would be uncomfortable but it was not so she was ready to enjoy the trip,

began to pull lines using Live Bait and some Lures, about 1 mile out stared the action, come the first two dorado’s at the same time,

25 minutes later hook up a nice Blue Marlin I was so excited fighting but 20minutes after we lost; we stayed trolled and hook up again a beautiful Dorado,

Our little girl was so happy when she saw him jump! 10 minutes Later we hook up another little Dorado and we let her fight

and as soon as she have close to the boat we show how to release with Olter’s help, we ask her how she felts (and She say: mom the little fish is very strong because he eats a lot like me!) was very funny and it was beautiful to see how she enjoyed the fishing throughout the day.
Our total fishing day was 3 Releases, Caught 8 for Dinner and lost one Blue Marlin and 3 Dorado’s.

August 20th Mike and Tom Williams on board Ursula III caught 4 Dorado’s and one Sail Fish about 4 miles out of light house.

August 19th Karl Klement and his beautiful wife enjoyed on board Ursula III with Captain Antonio and Hugo,

releasing one small Dorado and another got off the hook just before they got in the boat, they caught one Striped Marlin

and six Dorado’s (They finally smoked to take home)

August 17th on board Ursula IV Alison and Mark from Idaho with Captain Ricardo Report 5 hook ups of Dorado Mahi-Mahi very close to the shore about 1 ½ miles out of Cabo.

Most used these days has been live bait and medium size Lures.

Fishing Conditions in Cabo, Fishing Areas and best Catch:
Current weather conditions remain favorable, water temperatures between 86.5° – 87.5°, Wind calm at the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez, with mostly sunny days although we are in hurricane season We have not had any storms that represent a danger to navigation.

Last August 03rd we had on board Ursula IV Kevin Rucker and friends from TX, with captain Ricardo they trolling in “Los cerros de arena” sand hills, (about 7-8 miles out) and old light house (5 miles out at Pacific side) they found Dorado and Caught 2 about 35-40 lbs, and 1 Sail Fish (released).
Same day Lee Hircock on board Ursula III trolling in front to “Cerro Colorado” about 11 miles out and caught 2 Dorados.

August 04th our friend Duran from Mexico City on Board Ursula III
Left at 11:am a relaxing trip to see the coast and decided to throw lines out (was his first fishing experience) and were surprised by a beautiful Blue Marlin.

August 05th George Arrants on board Ursula IV had an excellent day of fishing, Caught 2 Dorado’s about 30 lbs each

and one more around 75 lbs 64 inches,

and one Wahoo.

August 06th Tom Miller from San Diego CA. on board Ursula IV for go 3 miles out and caught 1 Dorado and Sailfish in a half day trip
Hook up with live bait.

August 06th our fellow Mr. Leal from Monterrey NL. Mexico on board Ursula III Caught 1 Dorado and a great “seasickness” because they had a big party the night before.

August 08th Mr. Martinez from Mexico City, on board Ursula III
Caught 3 Yellowfin Tuna around 80 lbs and 150 lbs
They go 23 miles out in “San Jaime bank” using live bait,
On the way back they hook up a Blue Marlin fighting 1 hour and 30 minutes, finally releasing.

August 10th April DuBrul team from Houston TX. On board Ursula III
Have a good time fishing caught 1 Wahoo, Hooked and lost a Marlin and a SailFish.

August 11th and 12th boats stopped for maintenance service
(And the crew did an excellent job on that day) polishing waxes the boats.

August 14th our friends from Tijuana Mexico, on board Ursula III,
Reported lots of action at 95 spot about 11 miles from Cabo, but they only catch and release a nice Sailfish.

Most used these days has been live bait and medium size Lures.

Fishing Conditions in Cabo, Fishing Areas and best Catch:
Another great day, a little cloudy but the water temperature stays warm and that is encouraging for the Blue’s come, so we feel very fortunate because last Tuesday 28th we had one of the largest catches had been since start the Blue Marlin season in Cabo.

The Captain Olter Schcolnick reported the following experience:
Our journey on board the Ursula IV began at 6:30 am and throw lines at 7:30 am about 14 miles outside 180° south of Cabo San Lucas, we find a school of Yellow fin Tuna, then we went a little more outside of school, was when a troll in “Petrolero” Lure (Black & Brown) one of our favorites..
We had a hook up Blue Marlin that took ¾ of line out, immediately we calculate exceeded 400 lbs, was great when he jumped more than 10times.
The first to fight the marlin was the Angler Roberto Bardo, about 45 minutes after, he was relieved by Jeffery S. Cook and Tyler, it took about 30 minutes over relieving Roberto Bardo again, the estimated time of fight approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes until we bring on board, and take to weight.

Giving a total weight of 500 lbs. thus causing a great expectation to be the largest so far this season.

We believe that this is only the beginning of the great season we will have.

Equipment used: A Penn International 50 TW Reel and Penn Rod 50-80 with 80 lbs. line.

Ursula III Fishing report:
Same day our guest Oscar Ruiz from Tampico Tamaulipas. Mexico

left at approximately 6:45 a.m. on board Ursula III with Captain Antonio Agundez coming to the same fishing area where the Ursula IV was fighting with the Blue Marlin, and decided to try using small Trolling lures (Green/Yellow) and (Orange/Yellow) reporting 5 hook up’s of Yellow fin Tuna approximately 35 lbs each, later changed their Lures looking for Marlin, after an hour they have another hook up in a Zuker lure 5.5 (Green/Black) They caught a Blue Marlin and fight for 1 hour and 15 minutes then brought it to the dock for its weight, 180 lbs total weight.

Equipment used: A Penn International 50 TW Reel and Penn Rod 50-80 with 80 lbs. line.

Fishing update July 27th 2009

Fishing Conditions in Cabo, Fishing Areas and best Catch of the week:
Beautiful and warm sunrises, this week the fishing is reported regular to the following species as Dorados (Mahi-Mahi)Yellow Fin Tunas,
But much better for others as Sail fish, Striped Marlins, and Blue Marlin, the warm water temperature help in the different fishing areas around Cabo San Lucas as Punta Gorda (about 25 miles out), Old Light House (5 to 6 miles out)until Los Arcos (about 12 miles out) and San Jaime Bank (Located 20 miles out)- reporting better conditions of water than two weeks ago it was unclear-.

As we can see the fishing areas varied, one of the advantages of this paradisiacal place that characterizes us as one of the best options For the Sportfishing that we love.

Using live bait and different types of lures
as famous and favored by our crews Called "Petrolero" and also Red/Black, Green/black, and Blue/White.

Our best day was last week on board Ursula IV reporting 2 Sail fish for our guest Jorge de La Garza from Monterrey NL. Mexico,
And 2 Striped Marlin and a the first Blue Marlin 460 lbs for
James Cable from Baltimore on board Ursula III.

Reports say we’ll have good weather for the rest of the week.

Hi Kathy,

I wish I had a better response but our three days of fishing did not go as well as we had hoped. I caught a Jack-Crevalle just outside of Los Arcos at the end of day 1 and we had a double sailfish hookup on day 3 with my wife catching one of the two on her brand new rod & reel and the other spitting the hook before we could start the fight. Sorry that my pictures did not turn out. We did see plenty of Marlin, along with a swordfish on day one, but no comida. Day two brought more sightings of Marlin in the afternoon but again no comida. We had several hookups of unknown variety over the three days but the fish quickly spit the hook before we could get in our chairs and start the fight.

I think that the Captain and the mate did a fine job and tried hard. It seemed like a lot of the time we were not where the other boats were located (and appearing to be successful) as we saw many boats leave the marina and saw many boats with Marlin, Dorado and Tuna catches when we were arriving back in the marina (and we were skunked). Only a few times were we amongst other boats. After reviewing our trip, I think we could have trolled our live bait more often as we only did that for a couple of hours on day 1 & 2.

We appreciate the fact that the crew worked hard at using my wife’s new equipment as I think at first they had doubt about the spinning reels capability. The reel worked effortlessly when she caught the sailfish and we feel confident that she will be able to fight much larger Marlin/Tuna with it in the future.

Hopefully, we will get the opportunity to come back to Cabo next year and try again.

Fishing Conditions in Cabo:
We are definitely lucky to be in Cabo San Lucas
Summer stared with excellent fishing, warm weather the most of the day and great water currents for Predominant species like Dorado Mahi-mahi, Yellow fin Tuna Striped Marlin and Start the Blue Marlin.
Our Fishing areas are located: 5 to 6 miles out from Cabo, in front to Light House and San Cristobal bank.

We had on board Ursula IV our dear guest Mike Garrett and his beautiful wife Lisa from Lubbock, TX
who send us their report :
My wife and I had a great time fishing on the Ursula IV.We caught 3 Dorados that day two of the fish were in the 40 pound range. We should have brought a cooler with us so we could carry our fish back to Texas with us. The crew on the boat was great. Roberto and Jugo worked hard making sure that we caught fish and were comfortable. The captain also made sure we got to the fishing grounds quickly. Cabo is a wonderful place. I hope maybe I can make it a permanent home someday. We are definitely looking forward to our return trip next year and hope to see you again.

Dear Kathy,

Mike and I wanted to thank you for our fishing trip we took with you last week while we were in Cabos. We didn’t get the Marlin Mike wanted but maybe next time. The crew was great! Thanks for taking such good care of us! Here are some pictures of the Dorado’s and Tuna we caught. Hope you enjoyed the candy.

The first day I caught the Dorado approx 35 to 40 lbs and the 1 tuna in the picture.
Mike caught a Dorado, smaller around 20 lbs and 1 tuna, but he has no pictures.
The second day was very slow. Only Mike fished. He caught 2 small Dorado. 1 pictured. The other was very small and he threw it back, also the picture I already sent.
We saw a few Marlin and swordfish but they just didn’t want to bite.

Hi Kathy,

Sorry it has taken so long for me to respond back you and your wonderful organization. On behalf of my family I would like to thank you and you staff for a life time of memories we experienced with your fleet.

The first trip we chartered the Ursula IV (very well maintained and clean by the way) with the intentions to have my 15 years old son catch his first Marlin, though we were unable to accomplish this feat it was by no way due to the lack of trying, Your crew spotted at least 8 different marlin trying many techniques short of shooting them but just could not make them bite.

Now the second day was completely different story,( by the way thank you for the complimentary upgrade to allow my wife to attend the trip) 5 minutes after the crew put the lines in the water we had our first hit! A small strike however it brought excitement to the boat. I put my eleven year old son in the chair to let him have his first experience fishing at sea. A short time later he was so excited when we boarded around a 5 pound “Skip Jack”, the first words out of his mouth was “WOW THAT’S THE BIGGEST FISH I HAVE EVER COUGHT!” you should have seen the look on his face when I told him we would probably use it as bait later.

Less than a half of an hour latter we had another strike, this time we were on! The crew instantly spotted that it was a Dorado. Time for my 13 year old to grab the chair, after a valiant battle we were able to land a 60 pound monster! The rest of the day we had tight line catching numerous Dorado and Blue Fin Tuna, however we still were unable to catch the dreaded Marlin the crew still spotted at least a dozen of those elusive fish. I guess that’s why they call it fishing!

Again, please thank the entire staff for a wonderful fishing experience and we very much look forward to next year fishing with you to pursue or quest! This time however we might have two boys looking for their first Marlin!

A Beautiful morning like as always in Cabo, we are in a privileged place where the sun and the sea come together to create wonderful fishing days.
Weather conditions are excellent for the following species Striped Marlin, Dorado Mahi-Mahi, and Yellowfin tuna .
Our Fishing areas remain localized near Cabeza de ballena , mostly Sea of Cortez, 2 miles out approximately.

We had on board Ursula IV our dear guest Steve Oneal and his beautiful family for two days with the captain Ricardo-Kaba, the first day there was not very luck the saw some fish but not bite, but the second day was much better they caught 3 Dorado’s and 3 Yellowfin Tuna’s trolling one of my favorites green and yellow lure, only one was caught with live bait (mackerel).

The Ursula III was also lucky this week with a group incentive “Bolton’s & Company” 4 days fishing reporting 11 Yellowfin Tuna, 3 Dorado’s and 2 Striped Marlin.

This week has been good for the following species Striped Marlin, Dorado Mahi-Mahi, and Yellowfin tuna and some wahoos.
Our Fishing areas have been 5 to 8 miles out of Cabo San Lucas, between 95 Bank, Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez.

Our Guest Stengell last Monday caught a nice Striped Marlin 160lbs. on board Ursula IIIAt 6 miles out of Los Arcos, the rest of the week total catch on his boat: 4 Striped Marlin and 5 Yellowfin tuna.

Total catch for Ursula IV: 6 Striped Marlin, 8 Yellowfin tuna and 2 Wahoo’s
We’ll see how the weekend is, fortunately the weather is excellent and the fishing has been great.

After a day of Relax and beautiful Weather,
Olter was fishing close by the shore and brought home 15 Spanish mackerel,
He cook a delicious ( ceviche ) and sashimi for our friends,

(Everyone really enjoyed! )

Our dear guest Frank Dowtre on board Ursula III
With the Capt. Antonio go directly to Golden Gate Bank
And caught 5 Striped Marlins (lots of action out there)
They will try again on Saturday.

And they decided to go 5 hours in a Panga 23´ Galilea
They catch 7 Amberjack right in front to Chileno bay

About 4 miles out to the Sea of Cortez.

Our dear Guest Rick Landry and friends on board Ursula IV
With Captain Ricardo (Kaba) were directly to Golden Gate Bank
And Caught 5 Striped Marlin using live bait (mackerel)
With 40lbs line.
Hope they enjoy this catch as Aleshka (my baby enjoy her candies)
Thanks so much Mr. Landry for bring that gift to my little one.

Caught 2 Striped Marlin and 3 Mako Shark
They had the catch when they returned to Port because had seasick.

A Shark day !

Pozo de Cota water temperature:72°F-73°F

Today we had on board Ursula III our dear customer and friend,
John G. Marsh and family they caught:
1 Striped Marlin, 2 Mako Shark at the Golden Gate bank,
And 1 Wahoo in Pozo de Cota about 13.8NM from Cabo.

I hope they enjoyed this trip,
so much as I do (the chocolates that they brought to me)

Nice weather, but slow fishing:

Water temperature: 73°F -74°F

Fishing Area: Pacific side, Golden Gate bank,

Ursula IV with Mark’s, Branon and wives,
were again with their wives, Caught 1 Dorado and 1 Striped Marlin, unfortunately they come early Because one of the girl’s had seasick.

Ursula III with Dale Wilson and family go out for half day,
But they did not catch anything,
( I really wanted these kids catch some fish )
but the fishing is like that, sometimes you have many fish in only couple hours and sometime you don't seen one in a day.)

Mr. Dale Wilson send me this comment :
(Service was just fine, thanks.
Unfortunately we did not catch one fish.
Kids were very upset, but hopefully next year.)

Another beautiful day, excellent weather, and Good catch !

water temperature out there 74.5°F to 77°

Fishing area :Golden gate bank, Old lighthouse, and Punta Gorda.

Ursula IV with Mark's and friends were about 15 miles out,
and caught 2 Striped Marlin (released) and 1 Mako shark,
they will be back tomorrow and will bring their wifes,
(I'm sure that will return with more fish if the Girl's go)
and want the same Captain (Kaba) and mate (Miguel)
they are so happy with this crew.

Ursula III with DMC's group,
caught and release 4 Striped Marlin and 2 Dorado's
is their first fishing experience in Cabo,
they also like to try another day next week,
we'll see.

But we still catching Striped Marlin!

Today we had an excellent weather,
water temperature 75°F-76.8°F
Still fishing in the Pacific side,
From, Pozo de Cota to Golden Gate Bank.

4 Boats out today:

Ursula IV with Gregory Tapp and Family
Arrived on the cruise ship H. American
To enjoy a fishing day with us,
Greg team caught 1 Dorado (mahi-mahi)

Ursula III: Mr. Steven sharing on board with
David Chirstensen, (Mr. Garcia friend)
Released 1 striped Marlin & caught 1 Dorado.

Drag I had a very good day for Tim Koelien,
Released 2 Striped Marlin and 1 Dorado.

Soly -0- with Logan’s team from Newport Beach CA.

These guys had fun and took excellent fish back home.

The most of the fishing was at the same place.
(Olter was hunting today and I decided stay to enjoy the fishing)

Our dear friend Tony McKee is in Cabo again!
like every year from long time a go on board Ursula IV
Decided to go 12 miles out of San Jose del Cabo,
And Caught 2 Striped Marlin and 3 Dorado’s (mahi-mahi)

Also The Ursula III fishing at the same place with Mr. Haas Team
Caught 3 Dorado’s (mahi-mahi).

Smith Stewart on Board panga “Galilea” 23’
Caught 2 Amberjack close by the shore
And trolling 3 miles out found Dorado school and Caught 3.

Everybody report good weather at pacific side

Here are some photos of our exciting Marlin fishing in Cabo San Lucas with my cousin (Mr. Jim) Jim Sawicki, Fountain Hill, Arizona, my son Greg Colosimo and I, Gerald Colosimo from Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada.

The fishing was great!! We caught a total of eight, the largest was about 180 pounds - we released all. Thanks to the captain Antonio and 1st mate Jesus, they knew where to find the marlin and treated us with exceptional assistance and hospitality.

We'll certainly return. Thanks also to Olther.

It was a trip of a lifetime.

Beautiful sunrise and great fishing on Valentine’s Day!!

There is no doubt; Cabo San Lucas is privileged place,
We had a lot activity at the Golden Gate bank, and Sea of Cortez
Today, Nice weather in the morning, water temperature 74°F-76°F

Ursula IV with Steve’s team caught 1 Bonito-fish
And 2 Dorado’s Mahi-Mahi (In my opinion one of the best eating fish)
They went close to the Golden Gate bank 16 miles out front the “Pozo Cota”.

Tracy Thordarson team on board Ursula III released 1 Striped Marlin,
About 15 to 20 miles out of Sea of Cortez area, and Caught 7 Dorado’s Mahi-Mahi And 1 Wahoo (excellent eating fish).

Fortunately there was no wind and the weather helps to have excellent Fishing.

Wind season in the Pacific side but fishing continues.

Cabo San Lucas is a privileged place; despite the wind fishing is great!

Today our Rudolph Stevens team on the Ursula III goes to the same place like yesterday Golden Gate bank they caught 1 Striped Marlin (Release) and 3 Dorado’s.

Adam team on the Ursula IV went for half day
fishing in front to the Old Light House about 5 miles out,
caught 1 Dorado and –Bonito- fish.
They have fun fighting the fish, enjoyed and know our sea,
(Part of the team feels dizzy)
We know that happens when are too many waves out there!
We will see the behavior weather tomorrow.

An excellent fishing day !

Few Winds continue but are normal on this season,
The good news is that the fishing was excellent in the Golden Gate bank.
21 miles out, water temperature is perfect for Striped Marlins and Dorado’s.
Out there, Melvin Stella from Port Alberni, B.C. Canada on Board Ursula IV Caught 2 Dorado’s and Released 1 Striped Marlin.

(They will send us their pictures)

Jonson’s Family on Board Ursula III had a good fishing at the same area.
Captain Antonio reported calm sea out there early in the morning Mr. Jonson Caught and Release 2 Striped Marlin and 1 Mako Shark.

Our customer and Friend Tony McKee with his family,
who visit us every year, Go this afternoon with the Captain Ricardo in the Ursula IV as soon as Captain Ricardo (Kaba) return from fishing, looking for whales and they had beautiful whale watching and lots of fun.

(He will Fish on the Ursula IV next Tuesday)

Mr. Peter Henderson and his wife From AZ.
They visit Los Cabo for first time, go in a Panga 22' ( Gala) 4 hrs. fishing and catch 4 sierra’s in front to old light house (close by the shore ) sierra is the best fish for Ceviche!
